Jim Carrey Graduation Speech: A Different Side to a Very Funny Man

by michael on June 11, 2015

My friend Scott Pilkington posted this link to a graduation speech comic Jim Carrey gave a day or two ago at Maharishi University. Please follow link: http://omeleto.com/199433/

I have never heard of Maharishi University. I have heard of Jim Carrey. I enjoy his comedy and acting. I listened to the commencement address; about 16 minutes. The video jumps in at about the ten minute mark.

Jim Carrey is a funny man. But he’s deeply profound, too.

Carrey offered many memorable lines. These are just a few I found worth jotting down.

“You can fail at what you don’t want so you might as well try and risk failing doing what you love.”

For guidance in dealing with life, figure out: “what do they need that you have the talent to provide?”

“The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency you have.”

“What is left is what is in your heart.”

“Do something that helps people present their best selves to you.”

“Risk being seen in all of your glory because seeking acceptance can make you invisible.”

“Don’t abandon yourself.”

See the whole thing.
